Utilising a derelict site within a conservation area, which is currently occupied by a Victorian WC Block serving Clapton Pond in Hackney, Claridge Architects is proposing nine new residential apartments and ground floor commercial space.
The triangular site acts as a book end to a terraced residential street while also having to respond to the larger scale listed buildings situated around Clapton Pond. Having been appointed after a previous scheme refusal, we aim to add a more appropriate building to the site.
The timber lovres act as an environmental filter and form a material relationship with the mature trees around Clapton Pond.
