Competition Entry, April 2008, Skopje
The exterior is a contemporary take on the traditional domed church with a bell tower to the rear. Concrete, as a simple, pure material is used inside and out, allowing Icons to become the decorative focus of the building. Offset by shafts and pinpricks of light, the inside space acquires an ethereal, spiritual character. The interplay between light, height of the panels and inclination skywards fills the church with a godlike grace.
