Dukes Studio

June 2009, London Private Residential

Dukes Studio is entered via two narrow passageways, one from Dukes Lane and one from Carmel Court. The site is enclosed on all sides and it combines two old artist studios into a new 3 floor contemporary family dwelling. With the use of concrete, glass and openings for new daylight to penetrate the existing buildings and combined with a new full site basement we are creating a five bed house with almost no external walls and at present only North light to one façade. The main living space acts as the connector to all three floors with a open in-situ concrete staircase wrapping around a polished concrete three storey wall which has a light slot to the top of it to flood the rear of the site with the moving east to west sunlight / daylight, this is combined with a double height space punched through the first floor bedroom zone to another rooflight bringing deep sunlight / daylight into the main living zone of the house.

Construction is due to start September 2009 with completion August 2010
