This 1960’s, compact 4-story town house in Holland Park was in need of extensive modernisation. The existing layout was not maximising the available floor space to its full potential. CAL was asked to come up with a way to make the property feel as open plan as possible. This was achieved by creating rooms within rooms. Rooms that had multiple uses which could be enjoyed by the client as their day-to-day living arrangements modified.
All 3 floors are linked via an existing timber staircase that was re-clad and sprayed white to create a fluid sculptural element that appears as though it has been carved out of one solid block. 2 large skylights were also added to allow natural daylight to flood the stairwell.
