Battersea High Street
January 2012, London
Claridge Architects have recently submitted a planning application for 16 high end residential apartments in the place of an existing 1960s public house on Battersea High Street. The design was generated in response to the historic streetscape of the Battersea Square Conservation Area, repairing and reinstating the historic grain of the street in a contemporary design. The massing of the scheme responds to a number of key views from the around the site, using carefully composed stepped volumes that respect these views and enhance the streetscape. The stepped massing and large openings in the facade provide both articulation to the building and amenity spaces for the residents.
